The Boston Marathon bombing was a horrific event that happened April 25, 2013 at approximately 2:30 p.m. The bombings injured several people leaving three dead. One of the suspects, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was arrested and his accomplice, his older brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, died after being shot during a police shootout.

A little over a year later, officials are still finding new evidence on this crime. According to officials , Robel Phillipos, friend of Tsarnaev, was charged with lying to investigators after the bombings with his role in disposing the evidence. There was a text message to Phillipos from Dias Kadyrbayev, another friend, to go to Tsarnaev’s dorm room to help hide the evidence.

Both Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov testified that Phillipos was smoking marijuana and was in the dorm room when Kadybayev and Tazhayakov were removing the items. The defense argued that Phillipos was too high to remember if he was in the room. Being under the influence or intoxicated is never a defense.
