Google’s Android operating system is now releasing a new program with encrypted data . In the past, Android has offered optional encryption, but most costumers were unaware of how to use this feature. For those who are unaware of what encryption is, it is a special code that allows messages to be decoded by only a certain party.
Android has followed in Apple’s footsteps in trying to protect their users privacy. Both companies are working towards protecting customers from illegal search and seizures from the government. By allowing an automatic encryption application, Apple and Android are moving one step closer from allowing customers information from being intercepted by the government. Android will begin automatically downloading this feature onto new Androids after October. Apple will have the software available for both older and newer Apple devices through the IOS 8 update.
Although the encryption update keeps government from intercepting information on ne cell phones, it does not stop the government (with search warrants) from accessing information that people have on their ICloud.
