Criminal defense across Denton County and Collin County

Becky Hafiz

Becky was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and raised in Denton, Texas.

Growing up, she couldn’t decide whether she wanted to be a teacher or a lawyer—so she became both.

Becky graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Texas in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language Arts and a certification in Secondary Education.

She went on to teach 7th and 10th grade English before attending law school.

In 2017, Becky began her legal education at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and earned her Juris Doctor in 2020.

During law school, Becky was a member of three national moot court competition teams, winning a national championship at the Federal Bar Association Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C.

Her exceptional written and oral advocacy led to her induction into the national Order of Barristers.

Becky was also honored to receive several awards for her leadership, advocacy, and academic accomplishments, including the school’s Professionalism Award for her role as a Director on the College of Law’s Board of Advocates.

After becoming a licensed attorney in 2020, Becky joined the Denton County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney, where she handled countless hearings and multiple bench and jury trials with great success.

She effectively prosecuted cases from inception until final adjudication, including screening incoming cases, working closely with law enforcement and witnesses, negotiating plea agreements, and managing the court docket.

Becky also spent a year in private civil practice at the law firm of Nix Patterson, LLP, in Austin, Texas.

In that capacity, she represented clients in a variety of civil litigation matters, including environmental torts, oil and gas, sexual abuse, personal injury, and class actions.

Becky’s knowledge of criminal and civil litigation and her experience as a prosecutor give her unique insight into the prosecution of criminal offenses and how to effectively advocate for her clients.

She believes the best results are those which are tailored to each individual client’s needs, goals, and circumstances, and her commitment to helping her clients achieve those results is at the core of her work.
